Alumni association formed
GUWAHATI, March 13: A meeting of ex-students of Jorhat Engineering College of
Guwahati city was held recently at Hotel Dynasty presided over by Paraj Bokul
Baruah. At the meeting, an association has been formed with Samiul Alam as
president and Abhijit Dutta as general secretary, a press release stated.
Pradip Bordoloi, Hem Senapati, Balin Bhattacharjee and Ranjit Kumar Sarma have
been elected as vice presidents and Ahmed Amanullah as treasurer. The meeting
unanimously elected Paraj Bokul Barua as chief adviser. Eleven ex-students of
JEC from various parts of Asom have been nominated as member of the executive
body by the president. JEC-OBA will establish its head office at Guwahati along
with Jorhat Chapter and Silchar Chapter at its beginning. Later the association
will establish its office in various parts of the country and abroad.
JEC-OBAs main objective will be to look after the interest of academic
environment of the JEC which is reportedly under the threat of de-recognition
as well as socio-economic development of Asom. The association will put its
best effort to make JEC, a centre of excellence.
