how I get my news? Where does HT or anybody else get that RIGHT to know my

informers) who keep me apprised of goings on in Assam, unlike his sources
who had no info. on this now known to be particularly well-known
controversy.

NO, I did NOT get my info from the* "English daily",* as I explained in my
first post. But what does that have to do with anything? So what if I did?
And so what WHEN exactly I got my info?

Finally, let us hear HT explain HOW "Mr. Chandan Mahanta is causing great
harm to Mamoni"? That will be a lot of fun I am certain. Will HT be wiling
to INFORM MRG that I am harming her? That CM is hurting her reputation by
SPREADING this rumor or news? I challenge HT to do so, and see how MRG
reacts to it. BTW,just for HT's info, I happen to know MRG.

Dear Barua,

I thank you for your advice that "My suggestion will be, if you have
leisure time, please try to do some constructive and creative work like MRG
instead of trying to indulge in such personal attacks ----- "

Your assumption that I am NOT doing any "constructive and creative work
like MRG" is baseless and amounts to a "personal attack", because I am doing
a number of constructive and creative work like MRG, but I don't have to
report that to you. In future, such insinuations will be ignored. I did not
ask for your advice. I am NOT giving you any advice. So, please do not give
me any advice in future.

As for your defense of Mr. Chandan Mahanta that "He was simply asking
questions", I must inform you about an age-old adage that, when a person
wishes to malign someone but does not want to take responsibility, or wants
to keep a back door open through which he would be able to sneak out when
confronted, he presents his malignance in the form of a "question". No
wonder you are also raising another baseless question: "My bigger question
is where do you have such leisure time trying to split hair in the net on a
non issue."

It is not a non-issue. IF you "simply fail to see where do you see Chandan
trying ti hurt MRG", that is your problem. To open your eyes, I may cite an
analogy how Erickson &/or Ved Mehta hurt Mahatma Gandhi posthumously by
raising questions & discussions based on lies tabled by N.K. Bose eight
years after the demise of the Mahatma.

I am glad you have said "the news is also published in AT now." It is
clear from the AT March 31 report that "Chaliha clarified that he had never
said such a thing like arrest of the noted writer for maintaining links with
ULFA", whereas Mr. Chandan Mahanta wrote at 9:56 AM on Thursday March 29,
2007 that "I have heard that the Congress MPm from Guahati has recommended
that Mamoni R. Goswami be sent to oprison ...."

By spreading the rumour (which is denied by Mr. Kirip Chaliha in AT), Mr.
Chandan Mahanta is causing great harm to Mamoni.

We demand that Mr. Chandan Mahanta come forward to tell us (1) where he
got the news, (2) who told him, (3 & 4) who made what comment. If he
collected his information from the mysterious "*In the March 25 issue of
an English daily"* that has been quoted in the "Assam Tribune", we have a
right to know the (5) source of this* "English daily". *

This is not a personal attack.

The netters are interested to keep a credible standard of the assam-net
and demand that Mr. Chandan Mahanta must reply to the above 5 questions
directly.

With the best wishes,

Himendra

Dear Hmenda:

Frankly speaking it looks like you are trying to split the hair on a non
issue.

Mr Choudhury also stated that :

Yes, this is true. The comment on Mamoni Raisom Goswami was made by Kirip
Chaliha, MP Guwahati a few days back. In fact, this is a hot topic which is
now being fought between Kirip Chaliha and Arabinda Rajkhowa . Arabinda
Rajkhowa advised to throw Kirip Chaliha into Dustbin as a reaction and the
fighting is going on.

As Ram pointed out, the news is also published in AT now.

From the above, I for one netter will say that I don't see anything wrong
in Chandan's question to the netters.

I donot think Chandan owes anything to the netters. He was simply asking
questions.

I simply fail to see where do you see Chandan trying ti hurt MRG.

We may say, MRG has already elevated herself to the level of 'Odaryo' one
which cannot be burnt by fire.

My bigger question is where do you have such leisure time trying to split
hair in the net on a non issue.

My suggestion will be, if you have leisure time, please try to do some
constructive and creative work like MRG instead of trying to indulge in such
personal attacks which does not help anybody.

I hope you will not take these comments personally.

Thanks

Rajen

Dear Choudhury,

This is strange. You wrote "The comment on Mamoni Raisom Goswami was made
by Kirip Chaliha, MP Guwahati a few days back." What did Mr. Kirip Chaliha
say? Mr. Chandan Mahanta wrote at 9:56 AM on Thursday March 29, 2007 that "I
have heard that the Congress MPm from Guahati has recommended that Mamoni R.
Goswami be sent to oprison ...." Did Mr. Kirip Chaliha say what Mr.
Chandan Mahanta is saying, or did Mr. Chandan Mahanta made up a part of it?

We demand that Mr. Chandan Mahanta come forward to tell us where he got
the news, who told him, at what time. He owes that to assamnet.

Your comment "In fact, this is a hot topic which is now
being fought between Kirip Chaliha and Arabinda Rajkhowa " is confusing
because the persons with whom I talked by telephone have not heard about the
so called "hot topic".

The "hot topic" has not been reported in the printed media who has a
responsibility to verify facts/sources before publication.

I am still concerned that these rumours will hurt Mamoni.

With the best wishes,

Himendra

Subject: [Assam] Discussions on a hypothetical scenario

Dear Ram,

Mr. Chandan Mahanta posted the news at 9:56 AM on Thursday March 29, 2007.

I made frantic telephone calls to India and found that people were
surprised when I asked them about the news.

Mr. Chandan Mahanta wrote at 9:56 AM on Thursday March 29, 2007 that "I
have heard that the Congress MPm from Guahati has recommended that Mamoni R.
Goswami be sent to oprison ...."

We demand that Mr. Chandan Mahanta come forward to tell us where he got
the news, who told him, at what time. These names and sources are very
important.

All discussions on a hypothetical scenario must be stopped because these
are going to hurt Mamoni.

I hope you will appreciate the concern.

With the best wishes,

Himendra
