Dear
Sri Baruah
I'm familiar with your view on the topic above , what you have repeated
again in this article . Ever since I'm reading your article on NE India I
became one of your silent admirer. You are one of those few who speak
piratical.
I also think trans-nationality, voting right in home country and full
other rights in the adopted country will not only solve the problem for
ever, it will help both the places (Assam and Bangladesh) in many ways. We
talk about globalization, transnational free market and cross border
business in one forum and suggest for hard border on another forum can't
go together . At one point we'll say India has a colonial mindset about our
land and people, at another point we'll try to close all the possibilities
of open up borders with our east Asian neighboring countries can't go
together either.

Only, fear Assamese population have in mind is about becoming a minority in
their home land. That fear can go away, if all of us sit in cool brain and
accept your proposal. In fact , in these days more and more experts are
talking that way.

Other wise no-pre 1971 migrant will help to detect post-1971 migrants , be
he or she a Hindu or Muslim. I know about mass culture among Hindu migrant
to keep their new found pre-dated document above the cooking place so that
they look older. Take the recent example of BJP's political move on Hindu
'Refuge'. It was BJPs old political stand. But, seeing that It has very
little chance to have any alliance with AGP it's again trying to get back
its Hindu Bengali vote bank. So, it has talked so loudly on the issue above.
Infighting among Barak Velley Congress might also have made BJP think that
way.

You have rightly said border fencing will never help to stop
migration. In fact border fencing is also a never ending project. Most of
the Border

inhabitants of Meghalaya, Tripura and Assam are resisting building fence
only because their farm land fall on the border or on the other side of the
border. Very few Assamese have any idea about the border area of the
region.

Recently, a popular mass movement against border fencing is gaining ground
at the Karimganj Town it self. Because, in this town, there is hardly any
gap between border and main Bazar area. All most all the influential elite
businessman of the town ( basically they are Vote base of BJP) have their
business house or residence just on the border .They are opposing any
proposal of relocation. They are seeing it as the second conspiracy of
Sylhet division. You have mentioned about the first one. Just imagine, had
there no first division , there was every chances of all the migrations
that took place after partition to take place there at Barak or Surma Valley
. Assam would have get the chances to lessen its own burden of migrants.

We may talk about applying force at Karimganj now. But, those who have any
common sense, will opine that it would be a big political and social
boomerang.
I hope, 25 years ( after Assam Accord) is enough to lessen lower our
emotion and be practical for a better and bright future of the region.

But, why I'm talking all these with you, you are a master on this subject
and well aware about all these. Thank you for sharing this master piece
with me.
