We were shocked to hear the news of Anima!
I have known Anima for a long time when I went to practice in Rudra Baruah's
office for my programmes and in AIR Gauhati station. She was always a bubbly
and happy -go- lucky person with a unique voice. Then I came to the UK in the
'70s and lost touch. Things changed and met her in 1997 when she came to London
to perform. She was so happy that our son Rishi could play tabla with her. When
we went to Houston convention in 1999 Rishi played with her again and our
daughter Samyami sang some of her immortal songs. She was very emotional to see
that our children have learned Assamese/ Indian music. We really had a good
time. She was a great lady with a unique voice and a lively personality.
May God rest your soul in peace Anima and give strength to Iswarda
and all the families and friends you left behind to cope with your loss.

Can we preserve her songs on the internet ?
She had an unique and richly melodious voice and a lot of her songs
are treasures of Assamese music.
Our respects for the departed soul.

Dear Rahman:
The demise of Anima Bhattacharlya-Chakrabarty is a
great loss to our community. We share the grief and agony
of Dr. Chakrabarty and his family. What we the mortal being
can do other than a solemn prayer for the salvation of the
departed soul !
We do not have Dr. Chakrabarty's e-mail address. Please
forward our condolences to him on our behalf.
Mrs. Chakrabarty was a wonderful human being. I met her
once or twice at the convention. What a lively person we
lost !
