Assam does have a history of Pakistani flags. "The attitude of the immigrants
underwent a radical change with their growing influence as 'vote bank'. In
several past instances … it was seen (that) while they have permanently settled
in Assam, their sympathies lie entirely with Pakistan. This was borne out by
the fact that they flew Pakistani flag with cries of 'Pakistan zindabad' in
villages near Tezpur (of erstwhile undivided Darrang) and Morajhar area of
Nagaon at the hour when the Chinese were heading headlong towards Bomdila in
November 1962", Barpujari clearly mentions in page 47 of his book "Northeast
India: Problems, Policies and Prospects" published in 1998.
