I do follow the discussion with great interest, but this question:

made me raised more than an eyebrow...

I do know an operating system that throws up everything (as opposed to
"astonished") when it encounters a programcheck (other than paging
related) in code running in key 0. And it is the only other one than
runs a native CICS.

Wanna know which?
