In the case of EXRX, in my example I used only OI instructions.  However, I
have a real-world example which uses a mixture of NI, OI, and XI
instructions, so developing an immediate value and using one instruction is
not an option.

Using BRUX or an equivalent technique is possible, but serves to enhance
code bloat.  I see far too much of that in Windows.  I don't want to
encourage it on the mainframe.

Wouldn't you get even more flexibility if you use BRUX (or current available
techniques) to end up in different routines?
