Unless they run infrequently and are "short" (FSVO "short"). A weekly step which processes a hundred records is a "who cares?" execution. One which runs monthly and processes 10 million records is a "are you crazy?". This is also why I don't use Perl or awk for production work. Well, sort of. I do use Co:Z Hybrid batch to run Perl and awk program on a Linux system. I need the z/OS data on that system anyway. So I do the reporting on the system as well.
