I believe you , that you saw a special situation. Usually when I write "I do not believe", I do not doubt personal honesty.I saw it as very unfortunate, to tell other people to do similar things without having a real good (and different) theory of operation. That was the reason, I argued in public here. Understandable. But I wasn't telling people to do it. I was agreeing with what "Internet Chicago Staff" (and others in previous threads) have said about corpus corruption (what I commonly refer to as pollution). I then said that the use of redlisting (the redRe in particular) can help prevent certain things from entering the corpus - thus preventing the corpus corruption that was being discussed. * I recommend the Redlist instead of the No Processing list because Bayesian analysis will still take place in case of any attempted spam abuse. Only for specific circumstance do I use the No Processing list. YMMV. After being questioned about the method and why, I explained the details of my circumstance. I believe I was always careful to explain that it was a specific case and that I did not have to resort to such things at other installations. We all have varying perceived understandings and methodologies of how things should work, and I see this as information that may be useful to other people - so I shared it when asked about it. I never advocated that everyone should do it. And I believe that I agreed with you in a previous post that under normal circumstance that it should not be an issue, and should not need to be addressed in such a manner. Because of that reason I have never added anything to the documentation Wiki in regards to my thoughts on this. But a discussion of such circumstance should be fair game. |
