Actually, he can probably get it to work, just needs an extra SMTP relay server in the outgoing chain to authenticate to the ISP SMTP server. Not the cleanest solution, but functional until either the DNS is fixed, or ASSP gets some extra SMTP Auth coding to allow for authentication to a relay host.
