Debian already has a maintainer for the ASSP package - Jose Parrella I spoke to him a while ago about getting involved as - in his admission - he's been busy on other things. He had almost Debian quality packages for ASSP 1.2.1 in October 2006. How much work was required to get that far I do not know but I guess with 1.2.1 being so old now there is probably a lot to do to get back up to date. I have my own ideas on setup and layout that are fairly consistent with Debian's - if you want to make it a joint effort I am game.
