Correct, while it must be defined as local in ASSP, you do not want your 
ASSP email interface domain to be considered local by your MTA, whether it 
be Imail, or any MTA, webmail or desktop client generated.

If your clients connect directly to your MTA, as in Imail's webmail, you 
need that MTA to deliver those interface emails to ASSP one way or another.

The easiest way in my opinion is to route all outgoing email from the MTA 
through ASSP.  If you can not route outgoing email through ASSP to a second 
delivery service, then you must do something with DNS to tell Imail to send 
those messages to ASSP using a second IP address.  I don't do this but it 
seems possible.
