I stumbled into that link while investigating the out-of-memory problem. Ulimits seem fine though.
Nevertheless, I think I fixed the problem! Today I was able to reboot the server and force a fsck on it. This fixed several disk problems. After the reboot, assp has been working without any problems, but of course weekend traffic is very sparse. I'll continue monitoring and if I get the error again I'll post some more information.
