I'll have to agree with that.

HP/Compaqs don't come shipped with less than 2gb of RAM. Even the
"bare bones" servers.

I don't want to start a flamewar here guys. But is it that dramatic
to get a new Asus m/b with 2gb of Kingston mem and a Core2Duo cpu ?
It doesn't exceed 250 Euros. And you have your server. I mean, you can
get any old box, be a bit carefull with the PSU and a dvd-rom and an
old ide/atapi disk. That's it.
