Maybe you misunderstood...

What he was saying is, port 587 is now the preferred submission port.
You should only enable 465 if you absolutely MUST support older clients
that don't support STARTTLS, like older versions of Outlook Express and
Outlook...

Personally, I wouldn't enable it, and simply inform the users that they
will have to upgrade to a more modern client that supports the secure
standards...
