Polycom and Cisco are also blind to customer support. Neither will sell to us through normal distribution unless we become certified in their phone systems. The rules for certification are very restrictive and in the stone age. They do not want to support asterisk. They only want to support CallManager and voip enabled PBXs. Polycom will direct all support through their authorized dealers. At least Cisco will sell a support contract on some phone equipment. Both companies are feeding grey market sales with these policies.

I have Polycom IP600s and just bought some 500s. I had a Zultys 4x5but
got rid of it. You need to be aware that Zulyts provides no end user
support whatsoever. They send you to the reseller, many of which don't
know enough to be helpful. I had hoped to make the FXO port on the 4x5
forward to * for voicemail purposes. While the firmware supposedly
supported this I could find noone to advise on its setup...so I resold
the phone.

Also, the Zultys stuff just doesn't feel as nice as the Polycom phones,
and they're about the same price.
