As a small ITSP operating in Vancouver, Canada -- let's hear it for Mr. Graves's recommendation!

We (I'm speaking of small Asterisk-based ITSPs in general) can usually provide DIDs and IAX/SIP delivery for far less than the cost of a POTS line from the local telco. As happy as we might be to sell you a Linksys/Sipura or Audiocodes gateway, we're also happy to deliver the calls directly to your Asterisk box.

You can call forward your existing number, or, in many cases, arrange to have your number ported to the ITSP. The advantage of having you number ported is that many telcos limit the number of simultaneous calls that they will forward. If you port your number then your simultaneous incoming call limit is entirely up to your service agreement with your ITSP.

As always! YMMV. But consider supporting your local Asterisk-based ITSP!
