After 20 posts, in 2005 the ideal setup for a new installtion of a 50 user asterisk is:
Option1: IAX2 with softphone firefly
Option2: SIP with softphone Option3: IAX2 with hardphones (which brand?)
Option4: SIP with hardphones.
Seems like we cannot come to a definite conclusion, poll ?

The verdict is that Asterisk is a very flexible and configurable tool, and there are many ways to get it to do useful work.
There is no magic bullet, and I fear you're not going to find any easy one-stop answers to this question, either.
