I'm load testing an asterisk application, and I'd like to determine
the audio quality automatically. I'm already doing DTMF tests, but I'm
looking for something a little fuzzier I think.

My initial knee-jerk reaction is to record the audio, and then apply
some sort of algorithm to it that will provide me with a few metrics
to compare with the original recording. Some very preliminary research
has turned up two standards, "Perceptual Analysis/Measurement System"
(PAMS), and "Perceptual Speech Quality Measure" (PSQM) -- does anyone
have any insights into what is behind these standards, or whether
they're worth researching?

Cheers,
Simon
