Hello Ian,

I've just read your posting and Jim's posting. This is interesting and thought I would reply, because I have exactly the same set up that you have.

My Sipura 2000 ---- SIP protocol ---> Asterisk running on Debian (server in my well ventilated closet) ---> IAX2 ----> My Asterisk server in Vancouver colocated ---> Voice mail, calling card apps & conference rooms.

I had issues in sending DTMF to my Vancouver Asterisk box and voice mail password was not accepted even though I punched it correctly. The same problem was also persistent when using my Sipura that is connected to my router shared by my home Asterisk machine. My calling card app would also not accept my PIN number. Calling a PSTN number (home & cell) to retrieve my voice messages from the Bell Canada voice mail system (through my Asterisk in Vancouver, would also not work (DTMF was not transmitted correctly).

All that I did was log into my Sipura 2000 unit and under the audio configuration I chose the preferred codec as G711u and then opted "Yes" for all the other codecs. There is also a "DTMF Tx Method" and the options are: "InBand, AVT, Info, Auto". I chose "Info".

Once this was done, my DTMF problems resolved. I had no further issues checking my PSTN voice messages (cell & home) from overseas or from the US, and neither my friends and relatives on my Asterisk experienced any such issues. It's been about a year now with no DTMF issues, and currently running Asterisk 1.2.4. Voicemail, calling card apps, conference rooms, calling PSTN voicemail systems, situation all normal.

Hope this helps! Let me know.

Cheers,
Reza.
