Martin, You're quite right about everything you've said here. The moniker "home" caused statements like, "We're a _business_, we need a _business_ class PBX". While I'm not sure that Trixbox is a better name for it, I do feel it's a step up from tacking on "@home".
In addition to changing the name, there are now several people developing and testing Trixbox (as opposed to when it was just Andrew Gillis developing [EMAIL PROTECTED]). This makes for a generally more well tested product. The upgrade path hasn't had the opportunity to be tested yet, but it _is_ there, which is the important part. There is now a dedicated Trixbox RPM repository which grabs the latest versions of the Trixbox core RPMs when you run a script bundled with the product. HUDLite is a first attempt at a free product by Fonality. Up until now, Fonality has focused on their own distribution of Asterisk that included their HUDPro server software, and one could manage their extensions using HUDPro client software. It is very much like an upgraded version of FOP, with a great set of features included (you can instant message other operators who are online, start recording a call on any given extension with the push of a button, dial a call from the interface, etc). Having said all those things, I've tested Trixbox, and my recommendation right now is to WAIT for the next version. Especially if you have Zaptel devices. There have been some serious headaches with zap hardware, in addition several other major show stoppers (voicemail occasionally stops after 10 seconds or so, and just hangs up on the caller). All in all, good ideas... But wait for 1.1 for the bugs to be fixed. Of course they would like to sell HUDpro to a larger audience, so probably HUDlite is put out to generate interest, gather feedback and check for bugs/features.
