Do you have an unlocked GSM phone?
Direction of the calls (inbound / outbound )?
My general suggestion if you need to use cellular while there.
Have or purchase an unlocked GSM cellphone.
Purchase French PrePaid SIM , not sure of the best deals but Orange and
France TElecom have prepaid cards, which have free inbound minutes
varying outbound depending on plan. The outbound for in France varies
from about EUR.39-60 vs Canada/US of about EUR .60 which isn't much
different.
Program a DID to do call back to cell and offer tone without answering (
can get Paris DID if want guaranteed no Intl charges to cell). Route
your Canadian # gets routed to your French cell number, you should be
able to do this on the cheap.
Unlocked GSM phone ( CA$100 and up )
SIM EUR39-79 including various outbound minute packages, but free inbound.
and any LD charges from your Asterisk box to your French cell should be
about 0.15/minute.
Just my few thoughts.
