I'm pretty sure Allison doesn't mind doing prompts. That is her profession (she doesn't just do Asterisk, but I betcha it is a welcome source of easy income for her).
I would say it's more a case of "charge what the market will bear". The prices they were charging were far lower than people would be willing to pay. Try getting a deal like that out of one of the big boys (assuming you could even find out who the voice talent was). I hadn't thought of the service for a while; I have my customers do their own prompts. But I do use her whenever I need new system prompts, and I don't mind the price at all. It's so much cheaper than this type of stuff normally is it blows me away.
