Hi Henry, I appreciate your faith in me but code snippets for Trixbox are beyond my skill. I rarely rise above dialplan hacks. It's what I know and as the old saying goes: "To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail."
You're right, the trick is coming up with something that doesn't get erased every time you do an update of Trixbox. Wait a minute, (he says, hammer firmly in hand) if you take their dialing macro and copy it to the custom file using the same macro name, you can make changes to it and yours will override theirs. The only problem with that is if they release an update that changes their macro, you won't get the changes. If it's causing you and your client pain, you might consider this as a pretty good stop gap measure. Once you identified the macro and lines in question, it should be a relatively straight forward matter to modify the callerID settings from there. Unfortunately it's been several months since I've rolled up my sleeves on a Trixbox machine so my memory is a bit fuzzy on the macro names etc. If you had a box that we could look at and make some test calls on, maybe it would be worth taking a look at. Hi Dave, we can get under the hood of Trixbox by including modification that don't get erased every time a refresh/update is done. If you have a code snippet that can substitute the CID for the Trunk name that may be enough to do the job. We could get Trixbox to Incorporate this in a future release. All it would require is a field called Trunk name in the "Trunk" web page or a check box to use the trunk name as is.. ie IAX/XYZ_INC. Let me know if you want to take this on as a little project.
