You can do it several ways. What I did with our Norstar MICS was to place Asterisk "before" it; I have the MICS plugged into one port of a TE407, and another port of the TE407 going to the telco. As far as the MICS is concerned, Asterisk is the telco. I do LCR and other tricks that way. I also have a few ATA2 ports going to an FXS channel bank which is plugged into another port on the TE407; these ports are extensions to the MICS, so Asterisk can (in limited fashion) act as an extension of the MICS as well. I've done some work with using Asterisk as voicemail storage for the MICS, but so far it's been of limited success and, to be honest, I haven't really spent a ton of time on that "end" of it; we've got a half dozen IP501 phones around the office and my focus has been on moving us completely off of the legacy system. -A.
