The topic got a bit quiet, so I was just wondering if we're still having that 
"sub-pub".... unless it already happened [sorry, was away for a little while]
sounds like we can get a lot of whiteboard done on this subject....as I see a 
lot of brain action done.
 
Simon, the concept you're using in your tools are quite the same it is with 
Exchange; ie. 'Listened to' Voicemails are flagged as 'read' messages

It's quite simple to use Microsoft Exchange as a VoiceMail system for Asterisk, 
thus replacing app_voicemail...well, diverting the VM to be exact. Asterisk 
being a very cooperative platform, "it basically doesn't mind someone else 
taking the load" [lol]
 
I'm sure the question will then come down to "how Asterisk would 'handle' WMI 
in this situation?" --- ahhh.....good question! I've seen some commercial soft 
out there....but I'm more looking into OpenSource solution instead...
