I'm still interested in recording the talks and producing the podcast/recording but as you said theres some hardware requirements. I was creating them before using a very low budget setup ($3 PC microphone from dollar store, and some USB cable Simon soldered an adapter on) but this increased the work needed to be done in post-production to make the audio sound clearly audible.
