I want to implement a high density analog solution (~80 FXS ports), and the Xorcom astribank looks interesting, but I don't know what to think about the USB part of it, expecially if I'm going to need 3 of them. Also, zaptel is kinda yuck, so I'm not really sure about the whole concept of running zaptel through USB. Seems kludgy to me.
Also, the Grandstream 24 port gateway (GXW4024) looks like a deal-and-a-half, but begs the question as to why it is so much less expensive than other 24 port SIP-to-FXS gateways. Finally, I can't help thinking that the Linksys PAP2 provides 2 FXS ports, which means the per port cost is less than $35, but imagine having 40 of those hanging on a wall? That'd just look silly. It's tempting, though. They seem to work well-enough. Thoughts? Experiences? Warnings? Testimonials? other 24 port FXS gateways? All ideas are welcome.
