Finally, I can't help thinking that the Linksys PAP2 provides 2
FXS ports, which means the per port cost is less than $35, but
imagine having 40 of those hanging on a wall? That'd just look
silly. It's tempting, though. They seem to work well-enough.

Thoughts? Experiences? Warnings? Testimonials? other 24 port FXS
gateways? All ideas are welcome.
What about taking them out of their original casing and putting them
in a simple custom casing? This may be more work than you want, but
I bet you could probably create a pretty decent looking case with a
dremel tool and some sheet metal (or something like that...). At
least maybe it wouldn't look quite so silly.
No, if I made it I'm pretty sure it'd look silly.

Also, there's still all kinds of problems relating to power and heat
disspation.
The fact is that I don't think I can work with those.

I have been looking at Adtran stuff. Their Total Access boxes are
pretty nifty.
Have you looked at the Citel Portico TVA? I've worked with
their Norstar-Sip version and it worked really well with Asterisk.

Yes, but it doesn't do analog.

Yup, I believe they do - spoke to the sales manager and they confirmed it.
