This has been a long time coming. Ever since they went on their buying spree during the John Roth years, they stopped making useful products, and made a lot of noise instead. What amazes me is that it took them this long to tank.

I suspect that their intellectual property will be sold dirt cheap to those who might actually make use of it. My bet is that Microsoft will grab a division or two, but who can say?

I do feel sorry for the fine folks that will lose their jobs over this, but there will be other opportunities. I also feel sad that this Canadian institution, with over 100 years of history, is now nothing more than history. But frankly, they've been deteriorating for many years now, and it's time to harvest the organs, say a tearful farewell, and lay the mangled corpse to rest.

To be brutally honest I don't think we'll miss them all that much. I know I won't.

The only thing I hope is that somebody picks up the sipXpbx project and does something good with it.
