While it is sad that Nortel as a Canadian institution has gone this
route, it also reaffirms to me the power of open source.
I'm sure someone will pickup their telephony division and continue, but
what if they don't? What happens to all those people that have Nortel
systems installed? What does the future hold for them?
If for example, Digium failed, Asterisk would still live on - it is not
tied to one particular company...
This is one aspect that many companies do not see - the security and
freedom associated with open source.
I know it is early days, but how do people see this as affecting the
telephony market here in Canada?
Do you see more adoption of Asterisk by others or will it have no impact?
