E71 is quad EDGE, tri 3G.

Jim, if you don't need voice directions, I believe Nokia Maps, which you can
download to the phone ahead of time, is free.

Also, you can get a cheap copy of Copilot, Garmin or similar, that way you
won't have to worry about data for GPS. It comes especially handy if you are
on a track, where there is no data coverage.
