  Di you get my last post, where I said this:

natsemi dp83815 ethernet chip that Soekris used to use.  They have
since moved to the dp83816 which, along with a new driver, was
supposed to fix these problems.

 The problem was with cable attenuation.  I'm no EE, but the point is
the net4801 was very finicky about the length of ethernet cables.
Have you tried different lengths?  10ft?  100ft?  See what happens.


  Anyways, two things:

1)  The dp83816 is used on current net4801's, and it isn't supposed to
have those problems.

2)  The fix is already in the kernel (2.4/2.6) and has been for some time.
