Anyone out there used this one? http://www.fit-pc.com/
It got a good writeup at ExtremeTech, and aside from the hard drive (from
the forums, it looks possible to replace it with a IDE to CF adapter, and
probably cut the power requirement further, not to mention increase it's
durability), it looks like a perfect small Asterisk box. At $285, it's also
a steal.
I'm debating picking one up, but I'd love to know what the general group
think is on it. Most of the specs look compatible with the 4801- but the
advantages (aside from a small price benefit) are that it has a VGA output
(useful for console or even operator capability), and the 5W power draw
(which means it could easily be powered by PoE). It's short a couple of
Ethernet ports- but I've not come up with too many uses beyond the 2 on the
Soekris boxes I generally use, and it adds a second external USB port,
making it more capable for backups and general I/O. Obviously, no PCI slot,
so it would be harder to make it host a T1 or other card- but the CPU
doesn't really have the power for that anyway (like the soekris 4801).
Thoughts?
