The Caller*ID is for inbound calls only and displays on the screen, I actually disable dial-tone from the SAT receiver to astlinux so there is no outbound. VoIP and SAT receiver data modems don't work well together. Directv offers the phone data modem functionality with the ethernet port on their DVR models, works well.
