George, I have several systems installed with the Soekris net5501's with between 10 and 15 phones. I'd say you can push the box much higher but it depends on what you're doing. I'm not transcoding. Most of the calls are terminated on zaptel (dahdi--whatever) hardware with on-board echo cancellation. If you were transcoding, your mileage may vary.
