Greetings fellow astlinux'ers! I'm about to dive headfirst into the
process of building some custom astlinux images for use on a new
hardware platform. I've got the ADE environment setup and have built a
stock image using the config that is included with the SVN checkout.

Now, how do I go about customizing the image further? I'd like to build
images for the i486 platform as the default platform seems to be 586.
Or, maybe some of the other architectures included are 486 compatible
like Via or Wrap? I may also need to go as far as compiling a specific
kernel version (custom hardware drivers for some I/O controllers...). Is
there a provision for specifying which kernel is built and with what
options?

I need to add some custom software to the image as well. What is the
process for adding software and getting it compiled as part of the
overall image? For removing unneeded software, is it as easy as running
'make menuconfig' and deselecting those items?

I apologize for the length of this post. If there is some development
documentation I can use that would be preferable, just point me in the
right direction. :-)

Thank you!
