Michael,

Hello to you!

My first and only Asterisk 1.4 - to - 1.8 upgrade just took place during the last weekend. The biggest challenge for me was that I had many macros, which are supported in 1.4 but not in 1.8. In that respect, 1.8 isn't backward compatible. The macros each needed to be rewritten as gosubs - which was easily done but rather time-consuming.

You'll also need to change the Active Channels and Voicemail Users Commands, under Management Preferences tab, as follows:

Active Channels Command:
Voicemail Users Command:

While I don't have an answer to your TCP question,

Hello everybody

I am using Astlinux 0.7.5 for quite some time now and I am very happy with
it. I would like to say thanks for all your great work.

I am now wondering if I should update to asterisk 1.8. I heard that it
supports TCP connections which seem to reduce battery power consumption on
mobile clients very much. At the moment I am thus using pbxes.com as an
intermediary, but would be very happy if I could connect directly to
astlinux.

So, I do have two questions. First, does astlinux with asterisk 1.8.3
support TCP connections? And secondly, is an upgrade from asterisk 1.4 to
1.8 very difficult or is 1.8 backward compatible?

Thanks

Michael
