I run a very Munched down asterisk (34 modules loaded), I found that there were some issues with SIP providers getting them to not '401' me when I went from 1.4 to 1.6.2
I didn't notice any issues going from 1.6 to 1.8, my issues came with using insecure = very in my sip.conf in 1.4 for some of my phones, whereas in 1.6/1.8 I had to go to insecure = port, invite. If you do much with CLI commands you will notice some of them changed... Im not yet using TCP for my SIP as not all my endpoints support it, and I want to stay consistent.. -Christopher -----Original Message----- From: Michael [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, March 17, 2011 10:28 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Astlinux-users] Upgrade from asterisk 1.4 to 1.8 Hello everybody I am using Astlinux 0.7.5 for quite some time now and I am very happy with it. I would like to say thanks for all your great work. I am now wondering if I should update to asterisk 1.8. I heard that it supports TCP connections which seem to reduce battery power consumption on mobile clients very much. At the moment I am thus using pbxes.com as an intermediary, but would be very happy if I could connect directly to astlinux. So, I do have two questions. First, does astlinux with asterisk 1.8.3 support TCP connections? And secondly, is an upgrade from asterisk 1.4 to 1.8 very difficult or is 1.8 backward compatible?
