Does this kernel option then make the drives show up as "/dev/hda" instead
of "/dev/sda"?

I had to make a kernel option change to get astlinux to run on my Jetway
dual core boards if the SATA controller was turned off on the board..   I
noticed the difference being how the drives were referenced....
