You were absolutely right: the problem was simply that my lighttpd server
wasn't serving fop2 root directory; a symbolic link on my lighttpd root
directory to fop2 root directory solved the issue.

A HTTP 404 error indicates you have not rebooted your AstLinux box after
installing FOP2 as per the instructions, or perhaps you have a custom
/mnt/kd/lighttpd.conf that does not reflect the new config changes.
Also, if you want to do the --test, you *must* specify the config directory
with -c /etc/fop2 , such as:
pbx ~ # /stat/var/packages/fop2/server/fop2_server --test -c /etc/fop2
