I use Astlinux on a cheap thin client, and for wireless I use a linksys
WRT54GL with dd-WRT for wireless access.

The idea to keep them separate is to reduce single point of failure, and
in the unlikely event Astlinux box dies, gets blown out by lightning, I
have an immediate backup.

The other reason for this setup is retail off the self wireless
routers/access points are only meant for a few users. In the instance I
use it for wireless access only, several wireless devices can use the AP
with minimal strain on the wireless AP CPU. When you add other
functions; VPN, routing, firewall; it tends to consume CPU cycles
quickly.
