I also had issues on ppp0. First it seems to work fine, but after the first DSL 
disconnect from the ISP it stops showing the graphs.
It works fine on eth0/eth1 etc. I also got this error after the disconnect:

Jan 25 03:04:10 customer-astlinux daemon.debug darkstat[1601]: WARNING: 
pcap_dispatch('ppp0'): The interface went down

I quote Lonnie for this:

"It seems the problem with ppp0 is, it does not only go up and down, but is 
actually removed by killing the pppd process, as such libpcap looses track of 
it.

Update: It seems Emil did make a change related to this recently, but now exits 
darkstat under that condition :-("
