If Paul uses your image, does that lock him into the specific Asterisk ( and
AstLinux ) version?
In my limited understanding, I thought a custom image would have to be rebuilt
each time Asterisk was bumped.
I believe Paul is currently using Asterisk 11 something, or wanting to, in
moving to AstLinux.

Paul,
I can possibly supply you with the image that I build a while back. It
is rather old, and I'm not sure about the Sangoma issue. I'm guessing
that you'll need whatever file is required to do an update, rather than
a complete new installation. Which version of Astlinux are you
currently running?
It might take a while to dig it out...

Hi Paul (and John),
I recall this topic from Martin about a year ago...
[Astlinux-users] Need dial pulsing on E&M T1 channels -- need to recompile DAHDI

Martin emailed: "I was able to rebuild the image with empulse patch and install the
image on my system. Works perfectly!"
Answering your question, building your own custom AstLinux image is the only
way to do this.
I would use a CentOS 7 - 64-bit "Minimal Install" in a VM (VirtualBox, VMware
Fusion), use a bridged interface so you can SSH into the VM from your favorite terminal,
and follow the Development Environment steps outlined.
It is not as difficult as you might think, mostly carefully following
instructions. Or possibly find a kind volunteer in your group that already has
such skills.

Greetings,
I just discovered I need to enable EMPULSE in Dahdi. Looking over the
archives, I see that it's best done by building a development system and
recompiling AstLinux and creating a new image. Is that still true or is
there an alternative?
Is there a way to just replace the Dahdi drivers or will I have to
rebuild the entire AstLinux machine?
Can future upgrades to AstLinux/Asterisk be made without changing Dahdi?
Thanks,
PDW
