Stefan, Without knowing how you use Asterisk in your AstLinux image it is hard to advise which version is the best.
Officially: Asterisk Versions https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Asterisk+Versions That being said, personally I'm happily using Asterisk 1.8 at the moment. :-) Out of curiosity, if you can share which line of your products use AstLinux, it would be useful to the project.
