Actually I'm not sure if my beds were made or not. I always make mine when I get up anyway out of habbit so I couldn't tell. My room had a coffee machine, but I did not use it since I don't drink coffee. I love the smell of it just not the taste.

Dear Mike,

A massaging shower is always good; our beds were never made. I'm
not sure if it was because Christy or Amy were in the room when they wanted
to do it, or if we were just missed. The coffee in-room was also good,
though I only made some the first morning.

I think my trash cans were emptied, then again, I didn't put a whole lot in
them. My room definitely had the necessities covered though, the bathroom
was a bit on the small side, but not too bad there. The shower was nice, had
a built in massage feature.

I thought the staff were awesome but the room service was lacking. I had
to go to the front desk at 7 P/M on Saturday night and let them know that
our room had not been cleaned and trashcans not emptied. I think the
clincher was that I told them I had no where to throw my cans but on the
floor. That did it, the room was spotless in the next 30 minutes. Actually
they were really over the top on accomodating us!

I would say over all the hotel was good, though a bit expensive. I
think internet access should have been free with the prices they were
charging for the rooms, fortunately I was able to get around that
using my phone as a hot spot. Also, it was much cheaper to get food at
places outside the hotel.

Dear Mike,
Great!!!!!! There have been some negative experiences around
this hotel--my suitcase is missing in action--but they are trying to
make that right, but the guy from Maine whose luggage ended up going
to KC, is not to happy, to say the least.
Glad you got home safely; that is along way and no busses
there, as I understand it; now hopefully, I can remember the voice with
your name.

Hi there, that was me, thanks for asking, glad you got home safe.
Yes, I did make it home ok. There was some confusion on when the
shuttle back to the MCB building was supposed to head out. At one
point it was 2:30, then it was changed to 1:30. I was actually
thinking of just taking the shuttle to the train station and catching
the Chippewa bus home, I could have gotten off the bus about 2 blocks
from my place.
Because of the confusion, the hotel offered to pay for a cab which I
gladly accepted.

Dear Bob and John,
That was a long, long morning, and I, too, hope a more
efficient way can be found for all the reasons John states so well.
BTW, I ran into a young man who missed the bus back to the
MCB office; I hope he made it home safely.

I am actually in favor of having one election Saturday. However, if
we were to do that, any additional meetings or speakers might need
to be canceled the rest of the afternoon, but we are there to
conduct
business.

After sitting through that interminable process of electing
three directors to the MCB Board, which may still be going on for
all I know, I think we really need to brainstorm some ways for
speeding up that process and making it more efficient. Here is one
thought. At one time, we elected one Director on Saturday afternoon
and two on sunday morning. In fact it was written that way in the
Bylaws and therefore had to be done that way. When the Bylaws were
revised, we took that out, not because we thought it was a bad idea
but because we wanted to leave that up to the discretion of the
Presidents and let each President continue to do it that way if
he/she wanted to or do them all on Sunday. Perhaps we could try that
process again to see if it helps. the Bylaws would not have to be
changed to allow that since the Bylaws don't specify when directors
have to be elected. Now all three directors are elected in
odd-numbered years. Should we consider electing two in odd years and
one in even years? Some believe we should eliminate the directors
altogether. I don't particularly favor that
approach but it could be debated again. the process needs to be
changed in some way.
Each position requires multiple elections because of runoffs and
with each election, the number of voters drops dramatically so by
the end of the process, only a few voters are making the important
decision of who will compose the Board, which is not a good thing. I
wonder if there was even a quorum present for the final election.
You can argue that people should stay but transportation often
dictates when people leave as well as check-out times at hotels. And
taking almost four hours for five elections seems ludicrous to me
and I certainly can't blame people for not sitting through such a
lengthy process. In fact, I admit that I bailed before the final
director's contest and that a
candidate that I would have voted for lost.
The Board is looking at a new voting machine but I don't believe
that it will actually speed up the process and I feel that the
machine being considered could at least slightly compromise the secret
ballot.
Whatever we do, the process needs to be overhauled because at least
in my opinion it is not working well. I don't want to open an
argument here but just to get some thoughts and get people to think
about what could be done to have a more fair and efficient election
for our
organization. John
       GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
