A common idiom in human readable xhtml is to use short pertinent text in the
anchor, and a more verbose explanatory style text in the title attribute.

like this:

    <a href='..' title="This is the place I ramble on about cat pix
    and lasagne recipes. Enter at your own risk">Eric's Main Blog</a>

Some might be surprised to see that long text appear in their editing
environment as the title of the blog.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just pointing out a nasty anti-personnel
mine on this path.
