That's not the only flaw. Imagine you have a feed full of deleted entries. With the SSE method, a new user (that didn't understand tombstones) would end up seeing a feed full of entries with blank or "This is deleted" content. With James' method, they'd see nothing (which is exactly what you'd want).
This was discussed last year when James first proposed tombstones. I suggest anyone that wasn't around at the time go and look up the threads from back then. Might save some time rehashing old arguments.
