I assure you I'm not making this up. Processing an attribute-less child element would require considerably more code for me than the initial attribute-based proposal. Blame it on poor design if you will.

Now I have no desire to limit other people's choices because of my problems, but until someone is producing feeds that require such a format (and those feeds are of some use to me), I'm not going to waste my time writing code to deal with them.

I really don't want to spend any more time arguing with anyone about this. I've told you what I'm doing so that anyone that wants to do something compatible can do so. If nobody does, then that's fine with me too.
