Have you restarted lirc? sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/lircd restart - Is this what you mean by "All stable updates are mixed up"? i.e., > would this explain why yum update gave me a mix of (old) 0.8.2 > applications and libraries with new 0.8.3 kernel drivers? No. I meant there is just one stable repository, although you see a lot of different directories in the html page. - Is there any reason 0.8.3 shouldn't work for me? > Do I need to separately upload the 0.8.3 kmdl from the lirc-8.3 > rather than using the 8.3 version that yum automatically upgraded > for me under the 8.2 regime? > > Any other help appreciated... > It should work. This is what I have. lirc-0.8.3-70_cvs20070827.fc6 lirc-devices-0.8-4.fc6.lcg lirc-lib-0.8.3-70_cvs20070827.fc6 lirc-lib-devel-0.8.3-70_cvs20070827.fc6 What does rpm -qa | grep lirc return for you? -- Paulo Roma Cavalcanti LCG - UFRJ
